How to choose juicy lime
– Choose small lime, hold it in your hand, it should feel heavy and plump with thin skin. When lightly pressed, the oil should spray out.
– Bring it up to your nose and smell a light fragrance. If the lime has a sour smell, it is likely to have been sprayed with pesticides.
How to store lime:
– If you plan to use it within a week: put the lime in a plastic bag or paper bag, tie it tightly, and place it in the cool compartment of the refrigerator.
– If you plan to use it within 1 – 2 months: use clean black sand, spread it in a box, place the limes on top, then cover with more sand so that the limes are buried in the sand and keep it in a cool and dry place, away from water.
Tips for getting the most juice out of limes
Do you always cut limes in half to extract juice? This method works well if you have regular seeded limes. However, if you have seedless green limes, this method will not give you any or very little lime juice. So what should you do?
The trick is to cut around the seedless lime in medium-sized pieces, without cutting too close to the lime core, and then remove the lime core entirely. Squeeze the medium-sized pieces to get the lime juice. Squeeze the remaining core in a twisting motion to extract all the lime juice. This cutting method is simple but much more effective!
