A Japanese beauty show conducted a fascinating experiment to verify the effects of ginger. The results were surprising to both the participants and the show’s crew.
Ginger Improves Blood Circulation and Aids Weight Loss
The show invited Dr. Arina Ishihara, author of two health books related to ginger, to explain how ginger can improve blood circulation and aid weight loss. Additionally, they invited a female artist to verify the effectiveness of ginger.

According to information gathered by the show’s crew, drinking warm ginger water can increase body temperature for up to 2 hours and 10 minutes. Dr. Ishihara explained that the internal organs rely primarily on blood-delivered nutrition for their functioning and that higher body temperatures can enhance blood flow. As a result, not only are the functions of the internal organs improved, but immunity and metabolism are also boosted, and the risk of catching a cold is reduced.
Since ginger can increase body temperature, improve blood circulation and metabolism, and burn fat, the show posed the question: if one were to maintain a high body temperature throughout the day using ginger, would it help with weight loss? Dr. Ishihara theorized that this could be possible.
Actual Weight Loss Results: No Dieting + No Exercise = 2.3 kg Lost in 3 Days
To test this theory, the show approached Mochida Koru, an obese comedian, and conducted a three-day ginger consumption experiment. First, Mochida’s weight and waist circumference were measured. Her initial measurements were as follows: weight – 94.7 kg, waist circumference – 103 cm, upper abdomen – 98 cm, lower abdomen – 118 cm, and visceral fat level – 25. To ensure that no other factors influenced the weight loss, Mochida continued to consume 2400 kcal of food per day.

During the experiment, her body temperature was measured hourly, and if it dropped, she was given ginger. On the first day, Mochida’s body temperature was measured at 35.9°C. After drinking the first cup of hot ginger water, her body temperature rose to 36.6°C within 30 minutes.
Ginger contains two compounds, gingerol, and shogaol. Gingerol is obtained by heating and drying ginger, and it helps burn sugar and fat while warming the body from the inside out. To enhance the absorption of this compound, the show’s team suggested that Mochida incorporate ginger into all her meals.
They also sliced ginger thinly, baked it in an oven at 80°C for an hour, and then ground it into a powder. This process increased the absorption of gingerol by up to 10 times. Additionally, Mochida could easily carry the ginger powder with her and add it to various dishes like udon and soba noodles. Whenever her body temperature started to drop, she drank ginger black tea to maintain her body temperature, keeping it at 36.5°C throughout the day.
During the experiment, Mochida did not need to reduce her calorie intake or exercise.
At the end of the first day, Mochida’s body measurements were taken again. Remarkably, without any exercise or dieting, she had lost 1.8 kg compared to the previous day, and her waist circumference had reduced by 1 cm. Even her initial body temperature had increased to 36.3°C.
On the third day, something even more remarkable happened. Mochida shared that she used to have cold hands and feet, but since the start of the experiment, she had been feeling warmer at night, and her bowel movements had improved.
Finally, after three days of the ginger challenge, Mochida’s weight had dropped to 92.4 kg, a loss of 2.3 kg. Her waist, upper and lower abdomen circumferences had reduced by 2 cm each, and her visceral fat level had decreased to 24.
The three-day experiment resulted in a successful weight loss of 2.3 kg for Mochida.
Dr. Ishihara was surprised by the verification results and pointed out that by increasing body temperature and blood flow, the fat and sugar in food are fully converted into energy. The effects of ginger are indeed remarkable.
The show also mentioned a type of ginger called “Kintoki Ginger,” which is smaller than regular ginger but has four times the amount of gingerol. If Kintoki ginger is made into ginger powder, it can increase the gingerol content by up to 40 times, significantly enhancing its effectiveness.
