The type of sugar used to cook black bean dessert is not fixed. You can choose white sugar, yellow rock sugar, or brown sugar.
Coconut milk
To make the black bean dessert more appealing, you can prepare additional ingredients such as fresh shredded coconut, dried coconut, banana oil, and crushed roasted peanuts.
Quick tips for cooking tasty black bean dessert
Step 1: Rinse and clean the black beans, remove any small or damaged beans floating on the water’s surface. Then, soak the beans in water for about 4-6 hours (preferably overnight), and add a tablespoon of salt to the soaking water.
Step 2: After soaking, remove the beans from the water, rinse them once again, then put them in a rice cooker, and add enough water to cover about 2 finger widths above the beans. When the pot of beans boils for about 5 minutes, switch the cooker to the “keep warm” mode.
Step 3: Leave the bean pot in the “keep warm” mode for about 15 minutes, then switch back to the cooking mode to boil the dessert again. After a few minutes, check to see if the beans are soft.
Step 4: Once the beans are fully cooked and soft, use a holed ladle to transfer all the beans to another pot, leaving the black bean liquid in the original pot.
Step 5: Add sugar to the pot and stir well with the beans over low heat until the sugar dissolves into the beans. Then turn off the heat.
Step 6: Pour the beans back into the liquid pot, add more sugar to taste. To make the black bean dessert smooth and fragrant, you can mix a little arrowroot powder and vanilla. When serving the dessert, you can also add some fresh shredded coconut and black jelly to make the cup of black bean dessert even more appealing.
Coconut milk black bean dessert has a mild fragrance of coconut milk. The black beans are sweet and soft, without any hard parts, and the dessert has a balanced sweetness that combines well with the creamy coconut milk. You can also add some roasted peanuts for extra flavor.
Note:
When cooking, some people add a pinch of salt (NaCl) or soak the beans in diluted saltwater. Soaking the beans in a small amount of saltwater will serve two purposes: it will make the beans soften and become plumper when eaten, and it will create the illusion of a more refreshing and flavorful dessert when adding a little salt.
To prevent the beans from becoming mushy or losing their natural sweetness, you need to follow a special recipe. First, you need to rub and rinse the beans twice, then soak the beans and remove any floating beans.
Next, put the beans in a pot, turn on the high heat, and roast the beans for about 10 minutes until the outer surface wrinkled a bit. Only after that, add water and boil the beans for about 15 minutes until they are cooked.
