Black beans
Just like other types of bean tea, the first secret to having a delicious and attractive black bean tea pot is to choose black beans that are green inside, evenly sized, thin-skinned, and shiny black. When buying black beans, you should not choose large seeds, pale skin color, or black beans with uneven seeds.
Sugar
The type of sugar for cooking black bean tea is not fixed. We can choose white sugar, yellow sand sugar, or brown sugar.
Coconut juice
To make black bean tea more attractive, you can also prepare other accompanying ingredients including: fresh shredded coconut, dried coconut, banana oil, finely ground roasted peanuts.
Tips for cooking black bean tea quickly
Step 1: Rinse the black beans and remove any small, broken, or floating beans on the water surface. Then, soak them for about 4-6 hours (preferably overnight) and add 1 tablespoon of salt while soaking.
Step 2: After soaking, remove the beans, rinse, put them in a rice cooker, add enough water to cover about 2 finger joints, and cook the beans. When the tea pot boils for about 5 minutes, switch the cooker to the keep warm mode.
Step 3: Let the tea pot stay in the keep warm mode for about 15 minutes, then switch back to the cooking mode to bring the tea to a boil again. After a few minutes, check to see that the beans are soft.
Step 4: After the beans are cooked and soft, use a slotted spoon to transfer all the beans to another pot and leave the black bean water in the pot.
Step 5: Add sugar to the pot with the cooked beans and simmer over low heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves into the beans and then turn off the heat.
Step 6: Pour the beans back into the bean water pot, add more sugar to taste. To make the black bean tea smooth and fragrant, mix in a little arrowroot powder and vanilla. When serving the tea, you can also add some fresh coconut shreds and black jelly to make the cup of black bean tea more attractive.
