1 portion of fish head and fish tail
– 1 large square tofu
– A piece of ginger
– 2 sprigs of spring onion
– 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
– 1/2 tablespoon chicken-flavored seasoning powder
– 2 tablespoons cornstarch
– 5 cloves of garlic
– 1/2 tablespoon spice mix
– 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
– 500ml water
– 15ml cooking oil
Instructions for Braised Fish with Tofu
Step 1: Prepare all the ingredients. Cut the fish head and tail into halves, and then coat them evenly with cornstarch. Cut the tofu into squares, slice the ginger, finely chop the spring onion, and thinly slice or halve the garlic cloves. Heat a pan, add cooking oil, and heat it up. Then fry the tofu until golden.
Step 2: Heat the pan again, add a pinch of salt and the appropriate amount of cooking oil. Then fry the fish head and tail on both sides until golden. After frying the fish, remove excess oil, leaving just a little bit. Then stir-fry the garlic, spring onion, and ginger until fragrant. When the spices are fragrant, add water to cover the fish.
Boil for 5 minutes, then add dark soy sauce and tofu, and continue to cook for about 10 minutes. Then add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil, a bit of spice mix, and half a tablespoon of chicken-flavored seasoning powder. Season to taste, simmer for a while, then turn off the heat. Transfer the finished dish to a plate, garnish with some spring onion or coriander, and enjoy.
