Read the article below to see if you have any or all of these traits! Here are 5 personality types that are likely to “extend lifespan”:
1. Conscientious
In a 75-year study with the participation of 300 married couples from the age of 20, researchers found that men who were rated as conscientious by their friends – meaning that they were not only less adventurous but also meticulous and cautious – tend to live longer.
The participants in the study selected a number of friends to rate their personality based on 36 adjectives from the American Psychological Association’s E.Lowell Kelly’s 1940 personality rating scale.
Throughout their lifetimes, regardless of gender, individuals who were rated as conscientious both in childhood and adulthood tended to live longer than their less conscientious peers of the same age.
2. Open-minded
In the same 75-year study, open-mindedness was also found to be a personality trait related to longer lifespan, coming second only to conscientiousness. Men who were highly rated in this trait tended to live longer than other men.
Their open-mindedness manifested in their willingness to listen to and consider new and different ideas, emotions, and opinions from others.
There’s a small but important difference for both women and men – participants in the 75-year study – that emotional stability is a personality trait significantly associated with longevity.
When the study began in the 1930s, women showed more emotional instability, and emotional stability produced greater benefits for women than for men.
This result was also more evident in a recent study conducted on 2,400 men and women, which showed that emotional balance plays an important role in longevity. Furthermore, emotional stability had an equally positive effect on both men and women during this period.
4. Agreeableness
A recent study conducted on 243 men and women aged between 95 and 100 (75% of them women) found that all of them were rated highly in being affable and extraverted.
The women in this study were also highly rated for conscientiousness, an important trait identified in the 75-year-long study.
5. Expressing emotions
The study carried out on individuals aged between 95 and 100 also found that, in addition to being affable and extraverted, the participants tended to laugh more and express their emotions more openly with others, in contrast to living in isolation.

To raise a grateful and promising child, parents need to pay attention to several factors. Developing gratitude in children is essential for their future success and happiness. Teaching them the value of appreciation and thankfulness will help them build meaningful relationships, navigate through challenges, and cultivate a positive mindset. By instilling gratitude in children, parents lay the foundation for their personal growth and emotional well-being. With this in mind, parents should focus on fostering gratitude in their children’s daily lives, encouraging acts of kindness, and nurturing a sense of empathy. By consciously practicing gratitude and modeling it themselves, parents can inspire their children to become grateful individuals who appreciate the beauty of life and the relationships they have. Ultimately, helping children develop gratitude is a lifelong gift that will positively impact their journey towards becoming fulfilled and successful adults.
