How to cook delicious cabbage
Ingredients: Half a medium-sized cabbage, 1 chicken or duck egg, good fish sauce.
Instructions:
Cut the cabbage into large pieces about the size of a quarter of your palm, rinse them and place them in a colander to drain the water.
Bring a pot of water to a boil over medium heat and add the cabbage to cook. Pay attention to cook until the cabbage is tender for the best taste. If you have soft cabbage, it takes about 3 minutes to cook, while for hard cabbage, the cooking time will be longer. When the cabbage is cooked, remove it from the pot and let it drain, then arrange it on a plate.
Boil the egg for about 12 minutes until cooked, then soak it in cold water to cool down and peel it. Cut the egg into small pieces and place them in a bowl along with good-quality fish sauce.
Tips for cooking crunchy and delicious cabbage
- You should bring the water to a full boil before adding the cabbage, and avoid adding it when the water is still cold to prevent the cabbage from becoming soft or mushy.
- Adding a little salt or a little lemon juice to the blanching water helps the cabbage retain its beautiful green color.
- Furthermore, when the cabbage is cooked, immediately placing it in cold water helps the cabbage maintain its crispness.
How to choose good cabbage
You can hold the cabbage in your hand. If it feels medium-weight, not too heavy or too light, and the size fits your hand, then it is a good cabbage.
