Preserving fresh shrimp with beer is one of several preservation tricks that help housewives maintain the quality of shrimp for many days, without having to worry about shrimp being spoiled, rotten, or bland after a long time in the refrigerator.
How to preserve fresh shrimp with beer
After buying shrimp, you need to cut the head and peel the shell (the head part can be stored with ice for later use), then remove the black thread on the back of the shrimp.
Next, pour the shrimp into a basin, pour beer in to clean the shrimp. After rinsing the shrimp with beer, use a towel or cloth to absorb the water on the shrimp, finally put the shrimp into a box and store it in the freezer for preservation. With this method, you can preserve shrimp for about 1 month and still keep them fresh.

Note: After applying the method of preserving fresh shrimp with beer, you should not wash it with water because it can make the shrimp infected and no longer fresh and delicious.
Preserving shrimp with water
Before preserving shrimp, you need to clean the shrimp and divide it into small portions, enough for one meal. By doing so, it will be easier for you to take out the shrimp for processing.
Then, put the shrimp in a food container, pour water in, close the lid, and put it in the refrigerator’s freezer for preservation.
Preserving shrimp this way, the shrimp will gradually be frozen, avoiding the sudden freezing that causes the shrimp to turn black and no longer fresh if frozen for a long time. This method will extend the freshness of the shrimp for a few months and also prevent the refrigerator from having a fishy smell.
Preserving shrimp with salt
The method of preserving shrimp with salt is also very simple, you just need to put the cleaned shrimp into a container, add salt, close the lid, shake it well, and put it in the freezer for preservation. With this method, you can preserve shrimp for about 2 weeks and still maintain the color and flavor of fresh shrimp.

Preserving shrimp with sugar
With this method, you do not need to wash the shrimp because soaking them in water will make them spoil faster. Just sprinkle sugar on the shrimp, one layer of shrimp corresponding to one layer of sugar, until the box is full, then close the lid and put it in the freezer to freeze.
The method of preserving shrimp with white sugar can prevent the shrimp from turning black and losing moisture, increase freshness, eliminate fishy smell, and make the shrimp still fragrant and delicious as if freshly bought.
Using zip bags or nylon bags
When you buy shrimp, there is no need to wash them. Let them drain all the water, then divide them into portions according to the amount of food, put them into separate bags. Next, put the bags of shrimp into a nylon bag, squeeze out the excess air, tightly tie the bag. Use multiple layers of food wrap to avoid air and moisture.
Finally, put the bags of shrimp in the refrigerator’s freezer. When needed, take out the small bags and thaw them. The shrimp, when put in water, will be as fresh as freshly bought shrimp.
Note when preserving shrimp
– When you want to cook, just take out the amount of shrimp you need, put them in a cool place for about 3-4 hours before cooking or thaw them outside.
– The thawing process also determines the freshness of the shrimp meat when cooking. If you cook immediately after thawing, just pour water directly into the ice-locked part of the shrimp to quickly melt it and cook right away.
– If you do not cook immediately after thawing, you should keep it in a basin of water with ice so that the shrimp stays cool. If the shrimp stays in the open air for too long, it will turn black. Thawing shrimp at room temperature or soaking it in water for a long time will make the shrimp meat mushy and tasteless.
