1. How Many Days Can Bánh Chưng and Bánh Tét be Preserved?
To prevent bánh tét from spoiling within 2-3 days, it should be hung in a cool place. If you want to preserve it for a longer period, store it in the refrigerator and steam or fry it before eating to enhance its flavor. When stored in the refrigerator, the shelf life of the cakes can be extended to about 15 days.
2. How to Preserve Bánh Chưng
Preservation under Normal Conditions
- After cooking, rinse the bánh chưng with boiling water to remove any residue.
- Hang the cake in a cool place to dry completely.
- Wrap the cake tightly with paper and place a heavy object on top.
By following these steps, bánh chưng can be preserved for about 7 to 10 days, depending on the wrapping tightness and environmental conditions.
Refrigerator Preservation
