Summer is the time when women long to don their strappy dresses, but often fear the winter weight gain. Arm flab and back fat are particularly difficult to tone, with many women unsure of how to address these problem areas. In reality, all it takes is a dedicated yoga practice targeting these muscle groups to eliminate stubborn fat. Consistency is key, so be sure to practice daily. Japanese yoga instructor, Tsuki (@tsukiyoga), guides us through two fundamental poses to help improve your physique.
Pose 1
This pose directly targets the lower back, trimming excess fat and creating a sensual, curved silhouette.
– Lie flat on your stomach with your body close to the mat.
– Place your hands beside your chest, palms flat on the mat.
– Engage your core and gently lift your torso.
– Start with a 30-degree lift, then stretch and lift higher.
– Hold this position for 10-20 seconds before lowering.
You should feel your abdominal and back muscles contracting. Alternatively, you can perform a lumbar spine compression by lifting your arms and legs. Hold this pose for 10-15 seconds before releasing.
Pose 2: Arching
Initially, your body may feel stiff, but as your back softens, you’ll be able to arch deeper, allowing the pose to work the back muscles more intensely.
– Sit on the mat, balancing on your hips.
– Twist your body forward, bending one leg close to your body while extending the other leg straight.
– Bend the extended leg to form a right angle and use your elbow to clasp your foot.
– Slowly arch your back, raising your free arm or adjusting to clasp your hands together.
– Hold this pose for 10-15 seconds, then switch sides.
No matter where the stubborn fat is located, it didn’t accumulate overnight, so it won’t disappear in a day or two either. Consistency is key, so maintain your practice daily to see results.
That stubborn back fat is the culprit behind a straight, unflattering silhouette. Target this area, and you’ll automatically enhance your curves.
