Wash your hands before washing your face
Make sure you thoroughly clean your hands before touching your face. Hands harbor many bacteria and dirt, and if not cleaned, can cause infection or clog pores on the skin.
Gently pat the skin with your fingertips
After washing your face, do not completely dry your face with a towel, but instead pat it lightly, leaving a thin layer of water to limit water loss from the skin. Use your fingertips to gently pat the face until it is slightly damp.
Avoid using a towel to wipe your face
A poorly cleaned towel can harbor many bacteria, causing damage to the skin, causing acne and inflammation. Use a face towel once to absorb excess water on the face.
Apply toner within 60 seconds after washing your face
You should moisturize your skin as soon as possible after washing your face and not let it dry for more than a minute. Within 60 seconds, the skin starts to lose moisture. If you apply toner a few minutes after washing your face, the skin will show signs of dehydration.
Avoid using water that is too hot or too cold
When washing your face, use warm water as hot water can disrupt the natural moisture balance of the skin, causing dryness and stripping away the natural oils on the skin. Meanwhile, cold water is also not good as it can constrict blood vessels.
Use a gentle deep cleansing face wash
Avoid using exfoliating face wash as they can damage the skin. These types of deep cleansing and exfoliating products should only be used a few times, similar to exfoliating. Because if used regularly, they clean but also remove the natural protective oil layer on your skin, they also cause skin erosion, making the skin irritated and weak, quick to darken and burn in the sun. You should only use these products about 2 times/week, and be gentle to avoid scrubbing the skin. Note that when using a scrub-like face wash, you should not massage for more than 1 minute and avoid using it on inflamed acne-prone skin to avoid rupturing pimples and spreading bacteria.
Create a rich lather using face wash
Be sure to create a rich lather with the face wash before applying it to your skin. The lather helps to effectively remove dirt, impurities, and excess oil from the skin. Don’t forget to gently massage the lather onto the skin, focusing on the T-zone.
Use a face wash with a pH of about 5.5
Choose a face wash with a pH of about 5.5, close to the skin’s natural pH balance to maintain the skin’s natural pH balance and reduce the risk of drying out the skin.
